Nice! Its sad ... the PetCo near me does not take care of their bettas like evidently yours does. There is a great selection ... just not taken care of well.

At least I don't think so.

The white one is just gorgeous!

WOW that last one is beautiful!! What a find!

They're all in their temporary homes until I can get my sump and split 10's up and running. I need to get a few more items then I'll be all set. Eventually the dividing walls are going to be moss walls but for now just plain embroidery grid. I dunno if I should go with three or four partitions.

It's funny cuse I saw the title and immediately wondered to myself how many bettas you had and low and behold the answer was right there waiting for me. At least you've come to admit to your addictioin lol. Last one is definitely my favorite too.

Moss walls will look great! I've got my 10 divided into 3 sections. It works well. Sectioned off with embroidery grid too. Just waiting for moss to grow!

I love Java Moss. I have tons of the stuff so I'm always making something with it. I started a Moss Tunnel project a few months back. I've not posted any final pics yet but I will soon! :)

Ironically, the more I make with JM the more moss I have left over when I trim next, heh.

Your Betta sounds like the ones that are classified as "Mustard" or "Mustard Gass". I'd like to see a pic of him!

White CTs are readily available, it just depends on how much you're willing to pay. I got lucky with my white HMPK from BettySplendens.com and finding this group at Petco just staggered me.

At Petco (or any petstore for that matter) I pull every cup out and look at them, placing the ones I like in the basket. Then I go through the ones I've picked out and select the ones I like the most. Trying to keep the selection to 4 or less, heh.

I gotta find a white, a black, and a dove grey 'set' of HMs or CTs or a mix.

But really, when I'm looking for Betta, I just look for interesting fish. I don't care if they're from a championship line or that they're 'show' quality.

They only problem with white ones, (I have found) is that they start out white and then they get speckles of other color. I got a white halfmoon at Petco, and he was totally white. Now, from the top of her head down her back is pinkish/red. I had a kind of green/white (it looked like an opal) one that started getting blue patches too.

I think I did read on Bettysplendens that they do that though.

Some Betta will change throughout their life. But only some, the majority hold their pattern and colour with only minor changes, if any. I find that their fins change more than anything. You'll only find young, prime breeding age, males with perfect fins, and only if kept in bare tanks at that. Betta fins fray and split, there's just no getting around it unless using bare tanks and I'm just not going to do that. They're far too intelligent to be kept that way. They'll all have plants/moss, filtration, heating, and good water or I'll not keep them. So I've learned to live with torn fins, heh. But even kept in bare tanks their fins change. Extremely long fins eventually fray with swimming and age. Ya know, youth and beauty, heh.

I just got my first Betta last week and now..... this makes me want more lol.

What is it with Bettas that make people get Pokemon Syndrom? Gotta get 'em all!

05-10-2010, 05:43 PM
I love the first and last one. Do you have any pics of your tanks? Really cool!

05-10-2010, 08:31 PM

If you want to see some more of my tanks and fish check out my YouTube link in my sig. I also use my Skydrive account for storing pics, here's the section for aquariums. (http://cid-931cf1133fa54c69.skydrive.live.com/browse.aspx/.Public/Aquaria)

I just find Betta to be such individuals that it's hard stopping. Of course there's a limit but I couldn't tell you what it is, yet. :)

Hopefully I'll be able to order the rest of the stuff I need to finish up my new Betta homes.

I have a few more new pics of these guys so I'll post 'em soon.

I love the purple and yellow Crown-tail. He's gorgeous!!

Some pet stores do have nice and hard to find betas. I found my blood red female spade-tail (Strawberry--RIP) and my pie-bald Silver and Copper Crown-tail (Mercury) at my lfs (petsmart)!! Had to talk my husband into letting me get him because I already had 8 betas at home.
