I just got them Saturday. If you couldn't tell, the one who has climbed all the way up a finger thick branch of the driftwood, all the way to the edge and is barely hanging on is Squirrel. He/She is a climbing beast. Every time I check on him he's up on something you wouldnt think a turtle would be able to climb. Red has a bigger red stripe on his back and is a little bit lazier. Once he feels dryness on the bottom of his shell he stops going any higher. No, there is another basking platform, that is not what is used for basking by my other turtles but it seems both the southerns love the driftwood.

Rue, I have plenty of powdered supplement and cuttlebones on hand ;)

TurtleDean, from what I've read so far, their care is almost identical to RES, as is sexing them, but size wise RES dwarf Southern Painteds. Southerns should only reach from 5 to 8 inches carapace fully grown.

That is a good thing, I myself am impresses by foot long shells, but am like most people unable to house them properly. Post some new pics when you can ok? I love pics of turtles in their setups
