Hello everyone.
I am in the process of redoing my tank, and am wanting to replace the current bog wood i have in, Where can i get nice pieces of wood, preferably spindly bits, that have branches on it, Can i collect some from around my house (country side) if so how do i treat it and make sure it is ok to use?
Thanks

Wood must be completely free of any sap and all bark removed. The pieces you mention will float but can be arranged somewhat decently. Get some hardwood branches and not that of pine or other soft woods as they will rot.
sorry! Another edit for misspelled words! *sigh

That wood would have to be dead a good couple of yrs to dry out enough to be safe to use in a tank.Remove all bark and other debris.
Bogwood comes from the bottom of rivers and other water ways. The best pieces I have found by getting snagged on.lol If you have the right line the treasures you can pull up are really cool. Its already water logged.I use a steel brush and chisel to get them clean.A power washer works well too.
Most of my wood is from the shore of lakes that I fish. Its sun bleached and has been dead for many years.I take it home and dryu it out any wet sections and then sand it down to get the grain to show up better once it gets wet.
