hey guys.
i have a group of about 14 wild Bluefin Killifish. i've had them for 7+ months now, and they seem to have taken to tank life wonderfully. i have maybe 8 males and 6 females, or something like that.
it's happened twice now, recently, that I notice a female looking very different from their normal coloration. the fish loses its lateral black line and gets tiny black dots on the body. both times i've seen the females look like that were either over java moss or micro sword carpets, both places which the killies have claimed for themselves and also would be appropriate for spawning.
my question is, is this different coloration a sign that they're spawning, they're trying to spawn, or...?

in the time they've been there no fry has come out and I have not witnessed any clear spawning take place, but then again this "new" coloration has happened twice only, and both within the last 2 weeks or so.

thanks for any light you can shed on this :22:

You've got it, they do that as they are preparing to and while they are spawning.
