what a better bio media ? bio max or bio wheel?

so here is my dilemma i bought new bio wheels and ac sponges and bio max for my emperor 400 .

but do i need the bio max ? since there are 2 bio wheels on here ? which is better the bio wheels or the bio max ?

should i just run ac sponge and the bio wheels ?

I'd say Bio-Max is better only because if the wheels stop working for whatever reason, you still have BB in the filter.

For me it would be the bio-max before I don't like the wheels. I don't like the noise, the splash and I don't them them stopping whenever they feel like it. Also don't like the smell coming off those wheels.

that's true , As i have no experience with these filters at all .
I think i will just use both , Now onto trying to figure out how to arrange it all in there so its used the most efficiently

Thank Lady Hobbs :) Im a huge aquaclear fan . But seeing as i got this one for free basically and it works i figured id save me some money .

it will be the emperor 400 and a AC 70 on my 55

I like ceramic rings myself, but just as long as you have something in either one (or both if it can be done) to serve as home to BB, you should be fine.
