Okay, just getting back from Lancaster. WOW is the word if this were a one word review, but I'll instead give some details.
The place is huge, about the size of a regular-sized Wal-Mart or small Lowe's. They have absolutely everything. I have never seen so many tanks for sale in my life. I finally got to see the All-Glass 210 gallon beast, and a Perfecto 265 monster! All kinds of filters, replacement parts, etc. Filter tubing on large rolls sold by the foot. There is a custom aquarium consultant office where you can make an appointment and they will help design, build, and install your dream aquarium. Great stuff. They also have cat, dog, reptile, and horse supplies.
Okay, okay, so let's get to the part most people want to know about--the fish rooms!
So I enter the fish room. My mouth flops open, and I am approached by a staff member.
Staff: "Hello, sir, may I help you with anything?"
Me: drool begins to come from the corner of my mouth.
Staff: "Sir? You okay sir?"
Me: eyes roll back into my head
Staff: "Ummm, sir?"
Me: THUD! (as my body hits the floor)
Seriously, though:
There are separate fresh and saltwater rooms, each about the same size, and an adjoining pond room. Each room is approximately 90 feet square. I say this because I paced it out at about 45 paces, and my paces are about 2 feet. There is also an adjoining live plant and betta room that is much smaller. I tried to count how many tanks they had, but that effort went something like this:
"Let's see, 1, 2, 3, ohhhhh, look at that. 4, oh, wow, never saw that before! 5, Oh, so THAT'S what they look like in person. Oh, and look over there! Umm, 5, no wait, 4. Whatever, never mind."
I saw so many fish that I either didn't know existed or have never seen in person. Just amazing. Each tank was perfectly clean. No sick or dying fish. Prices seemed VERY reasonable. Got to see dwarf puffers in person for the first time, about 1/2" long. I walked up to the tank glass and they swarmed forward, seemingly crying "pleeeeease take us home, you know you love us!"
Honestly I could go on and on about the place. Just very impressive. I go back to Lancaster on business in about 2 months, so it looks like I'll be adding a tank! It is a strongly recommended visit if you are anywhere in the area. Great experience.
