Almost looks like a planted tank substrate to me. Looks like no gravels I've seen.

Where did you get it?
They would know what the color name is.
Here is a link. It looks like Carrib Sea Red planted substrate.

I recommend it. I love my Eco substrates. Only draw back is, it is a bit pricey. It is the substrate in this shot.

It is black with a bit of mulm on top. These guys came to me pretty beat up. They have improved greatly since then.

The accumulation of stuff that forms on the bottom of an aquarium. Good plant food, works great to seed a new tank, but crappy looking in a close up photo.

Ahh ok, So does it just form by itself or does it have to be put it?

It comes all by itself. Especially if you dont vacuum the substrate.

Pricey or not that picture of it from rich looks cool.

Rich, is that substrate really more for use in heavily planted tanks due to how expensive it is, or does it have other benefits that make it worthwhile in sparsely planted tanks?

I have never used it in anything but planted tanks but it is not nutrient enriched so it would do no harm. it is designed to enrich itself from the fish wastes etc.

That is the stuff Holmes.
