My tank had too much substrate so my environment was toxic for corys. I recently got the tank cleaned out. Today I went to my favorite LFS and got a bunch more corys to go with the ones I already have!

I had 4 Peppered corys, so I got 2 more.
I had 2 Black Finned corys, so I got 2 more.
I've never had panda corys so I got 6 of them. Great price! They were 3 for $5.25. Can you believe it?

The peppered ones as well as the pandas were juvenile.

Here are the pics!

I call this last one "race you to the top!" because they huddled in the corner and took turns running to the top.

I LOVE my corys!

what's the one with the slightly greenish tint? Is that how your peppered corys look?

Yes - they only look green in the sunlight or flash on them. Peppered corys, green emerald corys, and even albino corys, I am told, are pretty close to each other except for the nuances of color. I have one peppered cory that is almost albino.

Nice looking fish....I keep thinking about getting a few more but I have difficulty getting food to the ones I have since the platys and mollys are so aggressive.

It really is best to supplement the flakes you shake at the top with something that is especially for corys. There are bottom pellets for corys and plecos. And while all your fish will go for it too (my platys love the tablets, and I used to have gouramis that went agressively for them) if you put them in at night time right after the lights went out, the platys and other daytime fish will go into bedtime mode, which will give the corys more food and time for the food specially suited for them. Also yesterday my LFS introduced me to some sinking granules for the corys called MicroCrabs (by Tetra) for them too. I put it in during daylight and they all got very excited. But the other fish weren't as effective at rooting around for them among the pebbles.

One more thing. I have heard to give one tablet per cory. But by experience I have found that if they are not eating all that, it is just waste and becomes food waste in your tank - which is not good. So you need to adjust to what they'll eat.

They are beautiful fish! I really like the skunk corys too, but don't have any right now.

OK, I sort of expected this might happen...

I have already lost two of the panda corys and one of the Black Finned ones. They acted all healthy and then all of a sudden just keeled over, it seemed. But the pandas seemed almost too excited, so I think the transition might have been too much for them. Lots of corys are just plain fragile. That's one reason I love the peppered corys. They truly are the hardiest. Did you know they were discovered by, of all people... Charles Darwin? That's like well over 100 years ago.
