Has anyone read/experienced flourish or flourish excel being the cause of death for corys? I'm trying to figure out why I'm losing my jullis but not my paleatus. Are jullis more sensitive?
I know that geos and flourish don't go well together and that the geos exhibit signs of poisoning (swimming erratically, running into tank walls etc). Anyone know if it causes the same in corys?
I haven't seen my corys swim funny but they are more active in the middle section than the paleatus.

I don't think so. How much Excel are you dosing? Some people dose this stuff at 4 and 5 times the recommended dosage and really are asking to kill their fish. I don't understand that concept at all. But I honestly don't think normal dosing of either the ferts or excel should cause corys to die.

I've been dosing only once or twice a week. After a water change I put in 7mls and half way through the week I put in 5mls. It's a 250L tank. I would be scared silly to overdose - it says in capitals not to on the bottle!

Excel used in recomended dosings will not harm corys or any other freshwater fish.Ives used it for years in my planted tank which has a very large population of corys as well as other cats.

Thanks smaug.
Well it's seeming like a lot of people use flourish with corys and they are fine. So I dont' think that is the cause of the issue. It must just be an issue with the fishies themselves not my tank.

Last check was Saturday arvo prior to water change - 0,0, <10 for amm, ites and ates.
PH 7.2
I can't remember the exact KH and Dh but they were low. 9 and 12 come to mind but goodness knows if that's it.
The strange thing is - throughout the deaths, the peppers have bred heaps! In the three weeks they would have laid at least 4 times!

Another voice for using both flourish products with corys without problems that I attribute to the flourish products.

I use flourish with Cory's, having said that my cory's for some reason have decided to vanish one by one suddenly. Never even considered that flourish could be causing the deaths, I cant really say. I bought 5 Bronze cats the other week and I have one left and 1 Punctatus out of 5 ....his been in there for about 6 months now.

PH 6.99 - 7.2
Nitri and Nitra = 0
Temp 27 - 28 C
KH 8

I just lost all of my cories. I took them out of quarantine tank and placed them in the display tank. The only thing different in display was a double dose of Florish excel. Had pandas and sterbai.

I use Excel at 2-3x dosages to kill algae, the only time I ever had a problem was when I mistakenly dosed a 10g at 5-6x

What size is the gravel/substrate I have had a few corys actually choke on the substrate.

I don't know the size. It's small. I can take a pic when I get home tonight.

I dosed with excel today, did a water change last nite. And my albino cory's started doing rolls. Like a gator's death grip roll lol.....Then they just swim around normal like nothing ever happened.
