Well, I'm a little late with this since I've already had about a dozen posts. Everyone seems very helpful and I appreciate all the information I have been getting so far.

I'm a programmer living in North Dakota who has always enjoyed fish and aquariums but never really knew what I was doing. I've learned a lot in the last 2 months since inheriting a coveted 30gal hex aquarium from my grandmother. I also enjoy photography so I have a small set (soon to get much larger once I upload the photos I have) of pictures of the aquarium here ([Only Registered Users Can See Links.]) which also includes some pics of zebrafish fry that surprised us one morning.

Eventually, I would like to get at least 1 more aquarium once I become more comfortable with my aquarium skills, so I should be a lurker around here for a while.

Wow those are some amazing pictures. You may want to think about entering some of them in the contests.

And last but not least. Welcome to the A.C.

Welcome! Yeah, these guys are great. And really well taken pictures. What kind of camera do you use?

Thanks. With the aquarium, I have really been getting into doing macro photography.

I have an Olympus E-500 digital SLR. It's a nice camera and I've been very happy with it. As I said, I have more pictures including some of the older frys and also should be able to get some of the glass catfish now that they aren't as shy as they had been for the first week they were in the tank.

That definately is a nice camera.

I'm stuck with a Canon Digital Rebel atm. Though its limited, I've mastered it and you can take some nice photos. I'm wanting at canon 30D so I can use all my existing lens.

I look forward to seeing some more of your awesome photos. =)

Welcome to the Aquatic Community and congrats on the 30 gallon tank. Great photos also. You might want to add a few more plants to the tank and give your baby zebras some cover or they won't last long. Good luck.

Thanks. I appreciate the kind words.

We do plan on adding more plants, unfortunately, I've been waiting slowly to get a replacement light fixture for the tank and will probably wait on more plants until that is in place. The LFS assures me it's on order.

We did remove the zebra frys into a fish bowl we had laying around (a bit unprepared since it wasn't something we expected). It seems to suit them ok until we can get a larger 5 gal or 10gal aquarium to set them up in. We got about 20 of them out and the kids are enjoying trying to get them to grow to full grown. Hopefully I can keep getting shots of them as they get older.

For any interested in more pictures, I have put more in the aquarium set ([Only Registered Users Can See Links.]) on my flickr account. Including some shots of the glass catfish finally.
