I found this product on Aquabid and it sparked my interest. Sine I upgraded my tank to a 30 gallon (36"x12'x16") I have been looking for some new lighting. I've read some conflicting information about LEDs and wasn't quite sure if this would be worth buying. Here's the product's specs.

Here's a link as well

198 High brightness 5mm LEDs totaling 11 watts
20,000k Daylight White! Brings out color on everything inside your tank.
697 Lumen
Dimension: 33 inches (Fits nicely in 3ft aquarium hoods)>
long cord: 9 feet
Life: 10 Years or 80,000 hours
Water Resistant

The seller uses them on his tanks but it looks like he has very shallow tanks and only sells floating plants so I wasn't sure how that would work for my tank which is deeper and growing submerged plants.
Thanks for any help in advance and sorry for being a little clueless on this.

I don't know a lot about lighting for plants but I know a fair bit about LEDs in general. A LED can only produce one wavelength... but I suppose if you have nearly two hundred of them you can make a well-rounded spectrum. 20,000K is kinda high for plants though, isn't it?

Yea that's what I was thinking as well, normally you want around 6700. I was kinda iffy about it for that reason. I was also reading that plants are more willing to take red/blue leds

I agree

I had non LED lighting at 18,000K for about two weeks. It caused a algae break-out like I have never seen. I with all the water parameters normal (ammonia=0, nitrite=0, nitrate=5, phosphate=0ish ) I believe that level of lighting was like super steroids for algae. After I downgraded the lighting and taking measures to clean it up, the algae is slowly going away

I don't know a lot about lighting, but I would be considered about 20,000K

Yea I think I'm going to go a different route than those lights. I'll go down to home depot and see what type of ballasts I can find there.
