Tiger Barbs Bought Today

Hi Guys and Gals,

I bought 4 tiger barbs today, about an inch long each, and i'm wondering if they will hassle my 2 marble angelfish? My stock consists of 2 marble angelfish, 5 red platys and 2 neon tetras (the tetras were my first fish, which originally had a school of 4)

Should i buy more barbs to keep them preoccupied and not hassle the other fishes so much?

Id up the number of tiger barbs... Iv always kept 7 tiger barbs and had no problems. how big is the tank? Iv never kept them with angels but think they shud be fine if the tank is big enough,,,

Housing tigers with angels is a VERY bad idea. The tigers will likley harass the angels to no end and shred up their fins. If you have no way of getting rid of them, then get more, because in a larger school they will be less likley to bother other fish.

I agree it is not a good mix. More barbs would help the situation.

Iv kept tiger barbs with long finned fish in 211gal and no prob... If the tank isnt big enough then its not a good idea.

Yes small tank + Tiger Barbs (up to 30 gal) = shredded tank mates. I to have read that a bigger school lowers aggression towards other fish but I do not have any personal experience with them besides having them kill everything I had in my first 10 gallon when I was just a young guy.
