a[Only Registered Users Can See Links.] aint you all such a lovely bunch!!!

I went to a Fish shop today and found out a whole lot of cool stuff! And a whole lot of stuff that means im going broke for the next few weeks :P

Found out i have to get a new (bigger) tank at $105
New filter at $190 (might need two if im going to be breeding) :O
another heater for the new tank
More fish :P (especially seeing as the two I have are sibblings)
More orniments
more lighting
few other bits here and there.

Also learned alot about the fish I have. For example they dont just grow to 2-3CM max but can grow ALOT bigger. Also that if I just buy the new tank and set it all up and leave it to culture for a month or so its better off for the water in it :)

GULP! WHAT HAVE I GOT MYSELF INTO!!!!

How many galllons is your aquarium, oh and just curious what kind of filter did you get for 190$?

I havent bought it yet. The tank I am getting is 900x380x380. Im not really sure what the filter is called but will probably be back in the shop tomorrow to have a look at it again and I will get a picture or name of it then.

Wont be buying anything though :-( I decided I wanted a new set of golf clubs today and so I bought them instead so it will have to wait until next week :P

Welcome to the Aquatic Community. You are certainly ambitions attempting to breed Demasoni.

First and foremost, a minimum of twelve should be kept in any size tank to help disperse aggression. This not only keeps a single male from being dominant over all others, it helps females and sub-dominant males from being chased to exhaustion. A small group is not recommended , as the dominant male will systematically kill off each tank mate until only he remains. Male to female ratio is unimportant when they're kept in groups of this size. Accurately determining their gender can be a futile task. It's very important not to house these fish with similarly colored species of fish.

A rocky habitat is also important. They love to spend a lot time in caves and swimming around rocks - not because they are timid, but because they are curious. They also seem exquisitely territorial; therefore, the more caves and niches your aquarium has, the better off females and sub-dominant males will be. Good luck.

Got that right - I was out of town last week and missed new fish day at the fish store. I'm still shaking!

Wow! Thanks for that.
The fry I have at the moment (Fry.. thats what the babies are called right?) are only tiny.
I went to the pet shop as I said and they told me id have to grow them for about 8 months before they will be big enough to start breeding.

Still on the list is so far is
Larger tank
Filter
Heater
Rocks (going with coral from the Aquarium shop)
Gravel
MORE FISH!

Thanks again!

Welcome to A.C by the way :)

I just noticed there was a buy and sell section on here!

i found the type of filter i was going to get from a pet shop. not the same model but the same brand as this one.
Fluval 305 Canister Filter

The guy told me the minimum size to get would be the 105 but would be better off with bigger..

i wont buy anything from off this site as the prices will be in USD or whatever they are in and I am from NZ so the shipping and figuring out how to pay and all that would be difficult for me.
