Hello to everyone here. My name is Kristy, I'm 26 years old, I live in Kentucky and just moved in with my bf, Robert who is in the coast guard (so I'll be moving just about every 4 years or so). I'm currently in between jobs since I just moved and hope to return to school in the fall. I've been going to a university on and off since 1999 so I guess I fall into the professional student catagory by now. Other than the fish and the snail we have a mini daschund named Copper.
As far as becoming a member on this site, I've always kept freshwater tropical fish in intervals during my entire life. That was the only type of pet my mother would allow growing up, lol. For the last few years I've kept at least one betta at a time. Right now I have a 2.5 gal. aquarium with a crowntail betta I rescued from Walmart (he was so sickly when I got him, but I could tell if I could save him he'd be gorgeous and I was right!), a black mystery snail, and a java fern that I've recently cut back because it caught a little too much air during the move. My grandmother in Ohio is giving us her old 30 gallon hex aquarium with a stand whenever we can go get it and we are planning on using that as a freshwater community tank for tropical fish. Robert apparently was great with aquariums growing up (according to his mother). He and I have developed a lingering interest in saltwater aquariums. My grandmother had a 50 gal. one when I was growing up. We probably won't set one up until our next move, but in the meantime we want to get as much information as possible regarding saltwater setup and maintenance so we can do it correctly when we decide to do it.
Here are some pics of Freddy...seriously, he became 1.5X his size and his fins really filled out once I got a hold of him from wally world. His fins looked awful before. I'm so glad he's happy!:luxlove:

This is Esmerelda...yes that is a pea beside her, Robert put that in there to see if Freddy would nibble to take down the original boating he had when we got him and instead, Esmerelda pushes it around on the bottom like playing soccer! They certainly have personality.
