Hi,
I have a Marineland C-360 for 2 years and it started leaking real bad from under the clamps where you seal down the top. The water ONLY comes from under the clamps and I have checked and re checked several times that everything is seated correctly.
I purchased the O ring kit and changed them all and the unit is still leaking. I do not see any cracks, although it seems to take less pressure to close the clamps as it did when I first purchased it. I had bad luck with the Fluval, now the Marineland.
Is Eheim any better, or should I drop the canister idea all together. Seems to be a problem with them.
Any suggestions on what you would buy. It is a 75 gallon fresh water tank so I want 150 gallon or more filter capability
Thank you!

I have 4 fluvals and never had any troubles. I like the fluval for the ease of maintenance. Maybe yours was a fluke.

I you want to get away from canister filters, you could go with two aqua clear 110s or two Marineland emperor 400s. I've used aqua clear filters before and still have one on my 36 gallon, they are extremely dependable filters. Never used the marineland but I've heard a lot of good things about them.
If you want another canister you could look at a Rena XP3 or XP4. I've heard a lot a great thing about those filters.
That should get you at least close to your 150 gallon filteration goal

Forgot to mention that I would stick with a canister filter if I was in your situation. If you don't want to try fluval again, I would get the Rena XP3 or XP4. If you are open to fluval, get a FX5. Its a little more $$$ but I've heard a lot of great things about them. Either choice would be really good for a 75 gallon and give you extra filtration.
Too bad about your luck with the last two canister filters you had. I've got a fluval 405 on my 55 gallon and I've had good luck with it so far.

Thanks to all for your comments.
The Fluval I had just didn't seem to do a good job like the Marineland did.
It didn't break and I had no issues with it....just not really clear water whereas the C-360, the water was like crystal.
I want to stay with a cannister...maybe I will just look into a bigger Fluval.
I forget which one I had, but it may have been undersized for the fish I keep.

If you get a fluval, I would not get anything smaller than a 405. A FX5 would certainly be better.
I've been doing a lot of reseach on which filters to get for my 90 gallon that I'll be setting up this fall, and I've found the best option would be for a fluval 405 and a HOB (likely will be a aqua clear 110). You might want to consider a HOB with you current fluval (if you still have it) if $$$ is a limiting factor for you right now. Would be a lot cheaper than a new canister filter.
Just another option to think about

Just for fun, try to rub some vasoline on that o ring and see if it helps any. I have no other suggestions, sorry.

I tried the vaseline on the new O rings and no luck.
As far as money being a factor...well it is but I have no choice.
The filter I have is not functioning at all. I have been doing water changes to keep my fish alive till I can get to town tomorrow. I will go Fluval since this Marineland only lasted a short time. It's over $100 to replace the entire head and that is not worth it. Thanks!!!!
