I currently have my silver dollars in this tank but will be setting up a 75 gallon and having two severums, one featherfin and my silver dollars in this tank. That will leave my 29 freed up for something else.
I have been kicking around having dwarf cichlids of the apistogramma family OR blue and gold rams. Open to some idea's.

I like the rams better.
Lake Tanganyika cichlids.

HMMMM, would make a pretty nice home for one of the medium sized puffers, or a community of smaller ones!!

I laughed as soon as I saw you had posted Kimmers. How did I know you would recommend puffers. LOL
I am leaning on the blue rams. I think they're pretty.

I've got the same delimma, 29 gallon tank, want to get something different "for me" but don't know where to go besides the driftwood and grasslike plants I have in mind.
I'll be watching this thread closely for ideas as well!

I have to go with Kimmers on this one Hobbs. I think Puffers would be fun. I am thinking about setting my old 29 gallon up for some dwarf puffers or something like that once my wife and I find a house.

some kind of cichlid, electric yellows, zebras, and peacocks are good

Isn't a 29 is too small for those cocoa_pleco? Seems much too small for peacocks but maybe not.
I wouldn't even mind one fish of a species that grew a bit larger but not too large for a 29 gallon.

Orange chromide, keyholes and kribs might be another way to go. Decisions, decisions.

I go CRAZY with new tanks. The 29g was considered to go saltwater, brackish, cichlids, neons, community tank, then i just bought the zebras, then the new ones, and now its a african tank
