What is the best way to clean your gravel/tank using a python after almost 6mos of work trying to achieve the perfect ground cover effect?

With plants, you don't clean the substrate. That's where the fertilizer is for your plants. If using gravel and plants, you can vac up area's that have no plants but generally we just run the vac near the top of the substrate and pick up the top debris just as you do with sand tanks.

Yeah if you have a heavily planted area with ground cover you probably don't need to vac there. If you have open spots of gravel and you can see poop just run the vac over the top of the substrate like hobbs said.

Just to add to what they said, if you do any deep gravel vac in a planted tank, you risk damaging the root system of the plants which isn't good. Just skimming on top is good. Poo = fertilizer:p
