When your tank is crystal clear and the paremeters are perfect and your do for a water change what is the increased benefit in doing so. :22: :fish:

Water changes also replenish minerals and electrolytes in the tank.

The main reason to do a WC is to remove -ates but also there are some other things in the water that might need replacing - micronutrients.

Also, params aside - you need to clean regularly to remove food waste, poop, snails, algae, etc etc etc

I do a 40-50% WC weekly; i don't even bother checking the params and I do good clean while i remove the water

Yup agree with the above... my parms are spot on week in week out and I still do a 40% changes week in week out. Plus I use a weekly fert for the plants so a water change needs to be dome to ensure no build up of ferts.

I am sure there are all kinds of chemical reasons etc. The fact of the matter is, the more water changed the better the fish are. They grow faster, look better and breed more.

That's probably why they're spot on, eh?

there are a lot of things in the water that you cant test for without a full blown lab..... its not just ammo, ites, and ates. there are hormones and all sorts of things the fish put out. i do 50% a week no matter how good my tank looks, i rarely test anymore i just watch the tank and fish they tell me if somethings wrong. then i'll be all over the test kit.

Replenishing minerals and electrolytes was a great answer as well as holding back the nitrates. Fish love water changes and you always see more activity afterwards.

not to mention when ya kick on the lights the next day after the tanks had time to settle down. and your fish are floating in this xstal clear water

great answers everyone i always do weekly water changes 50% because even though parameters are perfect like mentioned there are hormones and other stuff that can hinder growth of fish if you don't ever do water changes
