My Freaking monitor or video card is on the fritz. I get an image on my screen only half the time. Currently doing some diagnosis to find out where the problem is. I just had the motherboard fry a few weeks ago, but had a spare. If my video card goes, I will have to go back to a 32m and that would suck. I have a spare monitor, but it's tiny.
Also, I am going out of town again around the 24th or so. Hopefully, I get the computer problem fixed before then.

Before going to extremes, pull out the video card and try reseating it, blow the slot out, if the MB has been stored it may have some dust in there. also try reloading the video driver.

Going out to the In-Laws. They live about 3 hours from here. It's funny that the last time we were going there my gouramis breed and this time we were supposed to go up for Mothers Day and my gouramis chose then to breed again. Fortunately, we were able to postpone this time.

I build all of my own computers, agreed with crack. Reseat the card and uninstall/reinstall the vid drivers. Might help, might not.

Is the monitor plugged in right? is it a problem with the monitor? I had an old monitor like that once. How old is the monitor?

agreed... if the motherboard u used was stored there might be dust so removing the card and reseating it would fix it... specially if its an agp card... they are prone to not STICKING IN PLACE RIGHT..... lol try unplugging the monitor and plugging it back and making sure its in all the way before u go on and try removing the video card... it might be tht the monitor is just not plugged in all the way... it happens to me sometimes cause I am always lazy and I dnt screw it right.....
hope tht fixes ur problems cause I knw how it sucks to when ur computer decides to act stupid...........

Doesn't seem to be a driver issue. I just formatted a week or two ago. The monitor is a few years old. I tried another video card and it's doing the same thing, so it is either the motherboard/agp slot or the monitor. I have a spare monitor in the closet, but haven't had the time to dig it out. I tried cleaning the agp slot with an air pump to blow the dust out, but it didn't make any difference. I'm going to keep looking into the problem. Thanks for the advice :)

Re-flash the bios? Reset the CMOS? Double-check bios settings for the AGP slot utilization?

Well guys this is the end. After this week I don't think I’ll be on AC for a very long time. Graduation is coming and I won’t be near computers as often. I’m sorry to say that this will be the end for a little while. Each one of you has deeply touched me in ways I can’t explain. You all have been more to a family to me than I’ve known. Each one of you has a special talent and I know that everyone of you will go far in whatever you peruse. I’m still unsure about what I’m doing with my life but I’m sure one day I’ll figure it out. As of right now after graduation I’m going to be working my two jobs (McDonalds and dunkin donuts) and continue living out on my own. Times will be hard and hopefully my health will stay up. I’m still fighting some type of infection and losing my mind but it’s okay.

This isn’t goodbye just yet since I have one more day. But I thought I would let you all know how much you mean to me and how much I will miss all of you.

Sincerely,

Lindsay Diane Evans

P.S. to get my mailing address, you can pm me. I will send it to you ASAP
