For those of you that order from Drs Foster and Smith, how small are their small pieces of Mopani & Malaysian driftwood?
The Java Moss I have in the 20 gallon isn't happy with the piece of rock I have it tied to. It's growing, but the rock is too smooth so it's just anchored with a piece of fishing line and not gripping to the stone like I had hoped it would. I also need a piece to anchor my Christmas Moss as it acts like a green tumbleweed when I vacuum.
I want the pieces to be there, but not be there if that makes any sense. They should be part of the hardscape, but not take over the tank.
And do I have to do anything to it once it arrives? I was planning on boiling it, but is there anything else that needs to be done?

I thought it told you an approx. length of the piece when you order it.
I find Hornswort does not do ell when tied down. Mine always turns brown and loses needles. When I let it float it grows thick and green.
I do have plenty that gets wrapped around driftwood sections that reach towards the top.It does well there but really traps a lot of debris if left there too long.
I guess it gets cleaned out as it floats through the current.
I'm not sure about the driftwood from there but wouldn't shipping be prohibitively expensive? Mopani is pretty heavy. I got all of my pieces from PetCo and other similar big box stores.

That is what is stopping me from selling the stuff on-line.Shipping in Ontario is crazy expensive when the packages get any larger than an envelope.I have an awesome supply of all kinds of real nice pieces.thumbs2:

None of our big box stores carry any type of real driftwood. My LFS does and usually I'd give them the business, but they want $20.00 for a single small piece. I could get all the resin pieces I want, but I don't want resin.
As for shipping, F&S is having a deal on that. It's 8.99 for flat rate shipping ( no item limit) except on items that are marked which are tanks, stands, ect.
Upon looking the catalog sitting on my desk, they do list roughly what size the pieces are. I didn't look at that before, so I guess I have some measuring to do.
NG- I don't have Hornwort. LOL Moss can take a beating so that's what I do when I clean it. I smack it gently and all the crap comes out of it. Well, that's what I do with the Java Moss in the 55. Right now for the 20 I just fluff it or scrunch it up to get all the stuff out of it.

I ordered both kinds of wood on that site. I would tell you its well worth it. The size piece you will get plus the shippin will beat your LFS price.
The best part is you wont spend all that time trying to find a perfect piece it will come and you will have to love it. Just order the biggest piece you can buy or something along those lines the bigger the better.

This is good to hear since I put my order in for Maylasian pieces yesterday. LOL
Their site said it was on back order, but it was the large pieces that were on back order, so I got 3 small pieces, 1 medium and 1 medium / large. That should be enough to scape the 20 and the 55.
It's going to be like Christmas around here by next week as I also have a food, ferts, water conditioner and plants on the way. I was hoping the plants be in today, but no such luck.
Next week I'm not spending any money on tanks. LOL
