Made it to my first fish auction, and was really impressed with the fish and the deals.
Spent less than I expected and got 3 grown red jewels, 3 koi angelfish, a whole bunch of endlers (for $5..they sell for about 5 each at the LFS) and a half dozen swordtails.
SCORE!thumbs2:
Also learned that people in fact do buy duckweed. wish I hadn't been throwing out a gallon of it every week.

Lies! Lol i remember wanting duckweed at some point... then I got it as a hitchhiker and that's when I realized what a fool I was.
Sounds like a good deal, I wish we had some fish auctions/conventions around here, they sound like a lot of fun. Great catch!

So did you end up spending and buying more things than you had planned? I remember my first auction, was way too excited, I bought way too many plants and fish. When I got home I had to set up an empty tank just to hold all the extras.
Worst thing about the auctions is it spoils you, have a hard time paying retail for livestock/plants after that.

I was good. Kept myself under control for the most part.
Can't believe the low prices on some of these things, while people paid insane amounts for others. Blood parrot for $37? maybe if it was over 1"...but they were tiny ones, and died purple and blue at that.

People that dye/tattoo/mutilate any animal really piss me off... grrrr...
It would be so nice to go to a fish auction but living where I do such things never happen. I'd probably have to drive 3 hours or more to get to one... :(

Our auctioneer wouldn't let any dyed fish show up in the auction. He would probably stop the auc for a few minutes and talk about it:P
