Cycle: Yay or Nay?

The bottled stuff. Not the cycling process ;)

Did fishless cycling for a friend a while back. Added Cycle......nada. Added Biospira, tank cycled 40 hours later.

cycle does NOTHING. To cycle tanks, i just add waste from my other tanks and wait.

I have never used it, so i will choose the last option :thumb:

Or i use that "new-life" stuff.

Works EXTREMELY fast and well, but clouds the water like CRAZY

Frankly, I had more luck with Stress Zyme but in truth, don't even know if that worked or not. Now that I transfer stuff from one tank to another, I get a cycle in less than a week whether I use Stress Zyme or not.

Stress zyme was Alright for me, not the best, but better than cycle

Well I really can ride a bike but I've never heard of Cycle...I cycle tanks the old fashion way using my tap water with it's own built in dose of ammonia and seeded with gravel and used filter media. That seems to work lickity split for me.:thumb:

I chose the third option only because I've never used it. So far, the people who voted FOR cycle have not given any success stories.....:22:

I can't say that it's the greatest thing in the world, but I don't think it's crap either. And since I can't ride a bike while sitting on the fence, that's what I voted. :hmm3grin2orange:

But we did a fishy cycle on our tank (before discovering AC, fishless cycling and all the other goodness on this site) and used "Cycle". We cycled with platies, which apparently isn't the greatest choice for cycling, and never had any problems with their health. Ammonia never got over 2 and nitrite never broke 3. That's still very high, but it's not like the monstrous spikes I've seen others report.

So I guess that for us, Cycle did work, somewhat. But when the bottle runs out, we're going to stop adding it and see what happens. Too expensive for a student budget!
