I got a smoking deal on a 60 gallon tank with stand and gravel. It was $99.99 at Good Will and it was 50% off on a weekend special, so I got it for 49.99.thumbs2: No Filter, heater, cover nor light. I sent the tank up last Saturday, I placed it on the stand in my backyard and filled it up to check for leaks, none were found.:19:
I cleaned the tank and gravel, then I placed the tank where I wanted it. I had 25 lbs of sand that I used for the foreground center location and placed the gravel around that. Filled it up and I had two filters going on my exisitng 55 gallon tank, So i moved one of those (without cleaning it) over to the new 60 gallon tank to build up bacteria. I also cleaned my filter on the 55 gallon a few days later and pored the bacteria in the 60 gallon as well.
I placed five platys in the tank on Wedesday, and they are doing extremly well.
I tested the water in my tank today and have the fiollwing readings. Ammonia it was 0.25, Nitrite:0, Nitrate:5, and the ph:7.6, alkalinity: 125, Hardness:150.

I got a heater 200 watt for 10.00, two 24" covers for 15.00 eeach, still looking for lighting and want to put a Aquaclear 70 and a sponge filter in. I will be using it for 6 Koi angelfish, to eventually breed them.

I decided to move my light over from my 55 galon to my 60 gallon, just to see how it looked. It looks great. The platys I moved over on Wedesday have given birth so far i see 3 fry swimming around. Maybe that a good sign of a healthy tank?
My goal this week is to get some lighting and filtration on a shoe string budget.

Well I was in my local neighborhood Pet Store, and on the missing and exploited animals section a posting for a free 25 gallon tank with hood light and filtration with two bala sharks. So now I have my lighting and it cam with a aquaclear filter for a 30 gallon tank sweet!
Just don't know what I will do with the 25 gallon though.:ssmile:
