I've had my betta in my community tank for a long time and he's always been really mellow and I never saw him flare once.
In the past week or so he's turned into kind of a jerk. He never attacks anyone but he chases around the platys and rasboras a lot.

So now I'm wondering if I should get him his own tank. I'm just not sure if it would too weird for him to go to a smaller tank by himself or if I should just leave him where he is since he's not actually hurting any of the other fish.

What do you guys think would be the best?

Bettas are known for being jerks sumtimes :)... well i mean my betta's used to chase fish round and flaring during feeding and the odd time to shown them whos boss and protect his terriroty its natural behavior.... Betta's have very diff personalities some can just evil :). as u said he's not hurting the fish so i dont see a problem in leaving him in. Is he is overly aggressive constantly attacking them ? or just now and again and a feeding time. Maybe try separate the tank a bit using plants and ornaments, should help. how big is the tank?

Mine chases my ember tetras at times, he has no chance of ever actually catching them. I would think your fish are in no real danger from him.

As long as he is not nipping or stressing the othe fish out too much I would leave him be and just keep an eye on things. If the other fish are too stressed or he is nipping you can move him to a 5.5. What size tank is he in now?

None of the fish seem to actually be bothered by him, he chases them away and they just swim right back.
He's in a 26 gallon, the stocking is in my sig

I don't see any need to remove him at this time so I concur with the above statements. As long as he's not hurting other fish or being hurt then it's ok.
