so the past week i been noticing my tank water getting more cloudy and a white filmy alge like growing on the glass. what is it dont got any pics but tanks a 40 gal breeder with 1 green terror about 4 inch and a male convcit about 3 inch. they get along fine tanks been running for about 4 months now. just all of a suddon happend whats a cause for sometrhing liek this?:help:
If you water's milky (cloudy white) that sounds like a bacteria bloom (mini cycle). Did you recently clean your media?
I once over-cleaned my community tank's media and what's happening to you, also happened to me. I think, "Stress Zyme" is a bacteria booster. Try that and get bacl to me. Oh, do a water change first, maye 40-50% before adding the "good bacteria"
Let me know what happens and good luck.

Sounds like bacteria to me as well. How often do you change water, how much are you feeding? Do you vacuum the gravel well to get out left over food?

would the bacteria bloom cause a white like alge on the glass too? ive seen a bloom befor in my smaller tank but it never like grew anything on the glass like this one is.. i change about 20% water every week.. feed like twice a day. i dont really gravel vac becuse i got sand. but i do try and suck up as much waste as i can when i do vac like in and around the caves
Hmmm. Only two fish in a 40.....can't see how 20% wouldn't be adequate re WC.....but we revert back to basics here......when your tank is having problems be it algae, fish sickness etc, more often than not (IMO) it always comes back to water quality.
Conclusion....bump up either the frequency or amount of your water changes.
Or....lighting. I think I read on plantgeek that too little lighting can cause algae to overtake the plants because the plants don't grow fast enough to compete with the algae for nutrient.s
