I got home yesterday but I was too tired and dizzy to start posting.
Pretty incredible how bad a sliver can mess someone up.Apparently I was about a day or two from losing my hand and half my arm.
Last summer I was playing outside with my wood, almost a year ago. I was ripping down some oak on my table saw.The piece I was cutting was the centre part of the tree.I was ripping right through the first ring when it separated and became like a spear. It shot into my hand between my pinky and finger.I thought I got all of it out!
I even cut myself open with a razor blade to get in there to dig out what I thought was the last piece.I washed it out with rubbing alcohol and covered it up.It healed great,so I thought.
My guess is I was wrong!lol
Last week my hand began to swell in the area I had injured, almost a year later.
As my wife said I was going to investigate it myself but I ended up letting someone else have the fun. I'm glad she made go!(blush)
I think she knew I was going to be in there for near a week and she could get some time away from me! lol
They had me on some anti-biotic coctail and fed it to me through an IV for however long I was gone. The doc came said I was free to go yesterday. It didn't take me long to get home.lol
They have me on these horse pill sized antibiotics right now. They taste disgusting too! Its better than the IV treatment though.
My roomates were two interesting seniors.
One I call Gabby. He is a 75yr old German art dealer. This guy can talk and talk and talk...lol I would go to sleep and wake up and he would still be talking away.
He has no one and is obviously lonely!.
My other roomy was pushing 80.
He is an old lumberjack. He had something wrong with his stomach and has a bag attached. It was installed wrong and leaked. That was nasty. He was suppose to go home wed. but needs to go back into surgery first. The smell from having the bag emptied multiple times a day had me getting up and leaving the room everytime.
Thankfully I parked my truck right outside the back door!lol
That was my smoking lounge and sanity break!
Anyway, The cast is off now and the hole is starting to close.I was able to see the bones in my hand when the stitches and draining tube was removed.I thought it was cool but I would have preferred having a local to freeze the area first.
Sounds like fun eh?I have always been lucky with infections.I cut my knee when I was 13 and it almost killed me two weeks later, the reason I have had two hip replacements and now I need a third.
Sorry about the sloppy typing,my hand still hurts!lol
Thanks for all the well wishes!:22:
I will start posting and monitoring the forum again either today or tomorrow,Still dizzy and these new anti biotics aren't helping the head and stomach either.
