Went snooping around my area today and found a nice little fish place. Called Centerville Aquarium. They have great looking tanks! Dry goods are a bit overpriced, however their fish looked wonderful! And when I asked for stuff they said they could order it and have it by Wednesday! They also had great deals on setups for large aquariums. One that sticks out is a 10 gal. kit, with furniturish stand for $50. And BIG 150 gal kits...man if I could get my hands on one of those!!!

Anyway--- there I picked up:

4 5lb bags of Estes Black Sand (hoping this is enough to cover the 20g.
Red Sea Nano Filter (for the 2.5 gal. Halfmoon tank)
Hikari Wheat Germ Mini Pellets (for the pond fish-now I can feed them!)
Very pretty Vein tail betta for MOM

Then trucked over to Petsmart- very nice one- had never been to this particular one before (had knowledgeable employees anyways) picked up

2.5g. tank for Mom's betta (Came with glass canopy- which I'm stealing and giving her the plexiglass cover!)
Hydor Heater
Black background (4ft of it- and only got charged for 3ft!!!)

Only thing I forgot was Root tabs for the 20. Darn.

I'll post pics tommorow-I was just excited to tell yall my buys for the day!- got my wisdom teeth out yesterday- and have been 8 hrs w/ no pain meds. Just popped a Vicodin so I am gonna go to bed for now. Tommorow: Tank redo day!

Red Sea Nano Filter (for the 2.5 gal. Halfmoon tank)

Hydor Heater

That filter is a re-branded Azoo Palm (Mignon). Those are great once cycled though I had issues getting it cycled. The default media is crap. Get an AquaClear 20 Sponge and put it on the intake then fill a media bag with bio beads and stuff the media compartment to the gills.

I hate those heaters because they don't have a thermostat, they're on ALL the time so as the room heats and cools so does the tank, just a couple degrees higher than the room. Tetra makes a smaller electronically controlled heater that fits in tanks as small as 1/2 gallon, it's 25w or 50w, I can't remember, but it's pre-set to 78F and keeps that water at that temp all the time. I have four of them in Betta tanks and they work exactly as they should. I love 'em and they're cheap.

Congratulations on your haul! I know some here don't like Petsmarts and Petco's....and I did run across an employee ones that was a total moron, but daaayum, they sure got some awesome prices on fish!!!

My local fish store sold me Seachem's Flourite for $29/bag! Petsmart had them for $19.....I had bought FOUR bags LOL! $40 down the tubes!

Anyway, congrats on your purchases AND finding a new place to shop!

Wishing you a speedy recovery from the wisdom teeth pull.

Sounds like you have fun shopping.

How is Miss Dorothy?

Thanks guys! I spent a good hour this AM doing the tank- so after it settles and I stick the fish back in I'll snap some pictures.

@Zilla: Dorothy is doing good. Still fat though. I've been feeding her peas about once a week or two- but she is still fat. She is swimming around the tank more- so hopefully with less food she will thin out a bit.

Maybe she needs a song for incentive.

Just keep swimming, just keep swimming... :hmm3grin2orange:
