Last week my nephew got me a tiny pink parrot cichlid, about an inch long. Wasn't the dyed kind, but he felt that the blood parrot was lonely in the 30 by himself and needed a friend. I told him to never do that again, luckily they are compatible. Cute little fish, very active and curious/friendly. My blood parrot took instant interest and got "excited",I guess one could say. For about 3 days he/she had a protrusion from the anal vent area, scared me at first, looked like a lumpy pink tumor with a long pink fleshy tube hanging out. I think a little too much of whatever came out actually came out. Stayed like that for three days or so,blood parrot never acted distressed and it went back in. No eggs or anything-I know most male parrots are sterile,so I'm guessing little parrot cichlid was just too cute for the blood parrot?
Anyone have experience with this?
I read up on the pink parrot cichlids, basically just pink cons who are extremely prolific and will breed at such a young age as an inch long. Yikes!!
