I am gonna get a bike fellas! I am looking at a Honda Shadow 750CC. I don't want a huge bike b/c I am new to it and the shadow looks like a great starter bike. I'm gonna get the solid black custom edition one, I forgot the name. Any recommendations besides the wear the helmet deal?

I would also get the proper riding gear like a jacket, boots and maybe some chaps. I know how the weather is in Arkansas and how big some of the bugs get (secadas hurt at 65mph). When I used to ride I rode like people don't see me because most of them don't and I avoided many a scrapes for it.

lol, I read an article about that viper powered one, it said no one had the fortitude to top it out and the dyno machine couldn't handle that many rpm's on the rollers lol. That is just ridiculous. I'd like to see someone do some high speed cornering on those double tire deals.

Personally, I like the rice rockets. There is nothing like the new Yamaha R1
[Only Registered Users Can See Links.] not as powerful as the hayabusa but supposedly out handles by far. Yamaha is a great product too. I just bought one of these

cost me $7grand but is by far the best 2 stroke I ever owned, and I had a 97 kx250 which was 5 years running the fastest SX bike

I'm either going for the Shadow or Vulcan. I did find an 06 Harley soft tail I liked and was in my price range that was an 1800.

The vulcans are a good bike.I bought a Triumph last year and am still totally in love with it.Every bit the bike a Harley is but half the price and twice the performance. If you have a dealer close by do yourself a favor and check out the Triumphs. Here is my bike for you to look at.Its a 790 paralell twin.

The Triumph America or speedmaster sells brand new for about 8000.00.I bought my 06 last year with 10k miles for just under 6000.00.Check out ebay motors for them.Good luck with whatever you get,be safe no matter what!

How about this bad boy? $4600.

And there's a 600cc V-twin 2007 Shadow for $4k here.

Seriously, I wish I had $8k to spend on a motorcycle. 95% of what's around here is under $8k, including an 06 Hayabusa.

I just want a plain jane cruiser that is well built. I don't care nothing about it looking amazing but I want it solid and new or like new.

Shop around and set on lots of different styles before you buy.The problem with buying bikes are the lack of test rides.

Definitely get a full-face helmet, leather or riding jacket, and boots.

I've not ridden in, well, decades but when I rode I rode a LOT. I learned how to ride when I was very young and I was always driving one sort of vehicle or another as a child as young as 12. What's my point? I had a lot of experience with a vehicle in motion and was (and still am) good and knowing what a vehicle was going to do in a given situation. I'm not bragging, just being honest. Not everyone has a natural kinship with vehicles. You need to know how to ride before you get on the road. Be honest with yourself about your level of skill. Take a training course, most dealers will even include it with the vehicle purchase.

After that, when you are on the road, you have to be able to stay focused ALL THE TIME. Even when stopped at a light. Just stay paranoid, it's the best way to stay alive.

Good luck.

BTW, technically, this is not a motorcycle. It has four wheels/tires. It's an impressive machine, don't get me wrong, but it's not a motorcycle.

I ain't to fond of chaps though.

You will wish you had them if it is cold out and you go for a ride. What kind or brand of bike is up to you but for your first bike I would try to get one that is almost maintenance free and taking the riding course is a good idea.

Couple of things. Ya may not be too fond of chaps, but remember in the event you end up sliding down the road, you'll be glad you're wearing them.

Regarding bike size....don't get a small one just because you're new to riding. No matter what you get, you'll get used to it very quickly. If there's a bigger bike that you think you may want later....just get it now!

Good luck and remember, ALWAYS assume the other guy is going to make the worst scenario move.....and it ONLY takes once to ruin your day!
