Hi gang! I stumbled across this forum so I thought I'd join. Everyone's bettas are so beautiful! I hope it's OK if I introduce you mine:

I rescued this guy from a pet store betta cup a while ago. He was pale and lethargic. Now he's one handsome tomato:

I rescued this pathetic little blue marble from a pet store 2 days ago. This photo was taken the moment I brought him home (still in his betta cup). He's presently in rehab so I hope I'll be able to show some photos of him once he spiffs up a bit:

Most pet store bettas are not fed good quality food. Feeding yours a nice food, like Hikari, or Ed's food will help bring out his colors and overall health. Space: Bettas grow beautiful long tails when they have space to swim! What size tanks do you have yours in? Heat: A small heater is imperative, because betta's like their water a little warmer than most homes room temperature.

LMAO!

When I said "What is this good food, lighting, space, and heat that you speak of?" /pet store betta I was being funny and saying it from the standpoint of a pet store betta who would obviously never have experienced any of those things before while in a little cup. :)

I've had fish all my life (and crustaceans, amphibians, reptiles, birds, mammals... I'm a vet med grad so it's kind of par for us). I appreciate your post though! It's too bad that pet store employees will probably never read it.
