My one male platy is constantly chasing around the only other female in the tank (sometimes a bit aggressively, especially during feeding time). I am happy with the way my tank is stocked, but I think that adding another female platy to the community might help displace some of the stress being placed on the lone female.

I called the store where I bought my two strawberry platies (I got the last available two about a week ago) and they said that they would be getting a new shipment in today. Initially, I thought, "Great news!" However, now I am wondering if it might be a bad idea to get the fish right after they have been on some long, arduous journey on a plane or in the back of a truck.

Should I wait until they have had some time to adjust to their new tanks at the store? Maybe let some time go by to see which ones are the healthiest?

or

Is it better to get them before they have had time to be subject to the stress of living at Petco and all the mess that comes along with that?

It would be a good idea to wait a few days and see how the fish do at the store.

I would wait too.

A couple of days should be enough to let the fish acclimate to their surroundings, then you should be able to tell which fish are doing the best.
