What i have ...
- 30 gallon tank
- 1.5 inch white gravel base
- aqua clear 50 filter
- bubble stone + blower (not sure if necessary yet?)
- 150w heater.

Now...

Im very interested in setting up a belonesox (aka livebearer pike) aquarium...any reccomendations on what i'll need to set it up? Live plants needing? hiding spots needed? are these fish active? or generally more tame?

also, for those of you who do own fish who mainly eat live....how easy is it to set up a small guppy tank, and make them bread? how big of a tank will i need?

Your 30 is a great breeder tank for guppies.2-3females for each male.
A 30 is too small for the pike though.IMO They breed like crazy.

Pretty fast. Guppys are little pimps, they get it on alot. 1 male with 2-3 females, as NG pointed out, will produce fry galore! Once they settle in, the guppys will in about 20-28 days, produce live fry. Be ready for the babies though and remove them before they are eaten, unless your tank has sufficient cover for them
