Oscar fearful

I've had this oscar for about a week and a half. He won't let me get near him. Everytime I drop in his pellets he he swims away. He'll eat, but not near me. He hides in his cave or tree log anytime I enter the room. What the heck??????????

Who's training who????

Should I remove his log/cave until he adjusts to me?

he should come around, but i would give him some times.

Also you might add some deither fish (lively fish thats active and not hiding). They will tell the oscar that there isn't any danger around when they are out swimming.
