I have a freshwater 125 and have started using a blue moon light at night to better observe my upside down cat, my 2 pictus cats and pleco I also have a few lepard ctenopomas and clown loaches and a convict I was wondering if there are any negitive side effects like added stress or anything from using them.(I usually leave them on all night)

If the light is not too bright it should be fine.
Your electricity bill get the worst of it.lol
Mine are real dim but leave plenty of dark spots for the fish.

Here is what I did. To make it darker or lighter I use automotive tint film. I just fold it as many times I need to to make it as dark as needed. [Only Registered Users Can See Links.]

i have used night lights for a while now and have found that red works bette than blue in the long run. The exception is with leds. blue colored bulbs tend to fade over time and turn into just a low watt white light. I use 15 w red bulbs and it doesnt seem to bother any of my fish

Hmm I might try a red gel on my DIY moon lights. Thanx :)
