When purchasing a jar of NLS food for your tank, after first opening it at the kitchen sink to see if it is safety sealed with paper - DO NOT (i repeat DO NOT) then tilt it to open again to feed your fishies.
The paper seal is NOT sealed.
It looked like snow in the tank, little dark brown pellets of snow raining down onto everyone and everything.
Yuck - what a mess!
The cories and gouramis were loving it til I got the vac out and tried to get it all cleaned up. 4 water changes and three days later I was still taking out brown water from the gravel.
Lovely algae bloom on the back glass now but the water is clear again. The water tests are still good too, surprising, I thought for sure I'd messed something up.
