I ordered these plants online on Thursday, they were shipped today.
Crypt Parva
Dwarf Hairgrass
Narrow Leaf Java Fern
On Friday I came into work (tank is at work) and one of my nice co-workers had bought me some live plants from petsmart...so I put them in the tank for now...won't have room for everything, wuill have to bring some home I am sure. The substrate underneath is Sera Floradepot, a plant conditioning/feeding substrate and on top of it is just regular stone gravel. I plan on a pair of dwarf puffs when everything is said and done. I think my heater is missing a part, so I will have to exchange it, but here is the tank so far!
Here's the hood - the bulb is a 50/50 - should get the daylight bulb in tomorrow. There are also moonlights and two cooling fans

Looking good! You might want to take off the metal band around the roots though, as it can cause them to rot if held on too tightly.

Looking good! You need to find a rock or something to tie the java fern to though (with fishing line/cotton string), so the roots and everything are exposed. If planted in the substrate, it will rot. And leave the 50/50 bulb in there for now. A full 18 watts of light may be a little too much atm, since you don't have many fast growers. If you were not planning on injecting CO2, then I'd say just leave the 50/50 in there.
Drumachine is right, you need to take off (or at least loosen) the metal band and clip off the bottom inch or so, then replant the stems individually or in clusters of 2

Just for aesthetic purposes in freshwater. In saltwater reef tanks, it's supposed to aid coral growth or something.

I don't want to remove the band in case I take the plants home...once I know where it will be for sure, I will definitly remove it!
Also, I didn't know Java ferns are supposed to have exposed roots, thanks for that.
As for moonlights, the other function they serve is to observe fish in a natural atmosphere...as the name suggests, the moonlights simulate the moon shining on the water, so the fish feel totally comfortable and you can still see their natural nighttime behavior! This is the new 6 gallon nanocube from jbj and it comes with the moonlights, the old ones did not.

Good looking tank!
I also keep crypts and after 3 months of no growth, and took the cluster of crypts and seperated each plant and planted each one individualy and they grow really well now! Now instead of one cluster, I have almost ten.

It doesnt help the coral itself, it helps the symbiotic algea that grows within the coral grow. Then the coral feeds on the symbiotic algea, keeping it fed and healthy.
