Im looking on youtube and those tanks are making a 55 gallon feel really really small lol and i know im not able to get half those fish in my tank. i want predatory fish like at least one or two im not going to upgrade my tank later because this tank is for my room ( not sure about future tanks like in the living room or so?). Can i get some good advice from you guys with more experience . what would be a good combo of active/eye candy fish, mixed in with a couple of preditory fish for a lil excitement in the tank that will do for a 55gal ? i really just got lost on what type of fish i wanna stock in my tank(which will be up and cycling by friday):help:

Most fish are predatory by nature. An interesting tank for example could be a Guatamalan "biotope" in this you could keep a pair of Sajicas and a colony of wild type swordtails....and not specifically from the area but some bristlenose plecos would do well for algae control

I think the best thing to help us help you would be to state several predatory fish species that you are interested in keeping :11:

Just remember that keeping Convicts means having a different water setup. Which would be brackish

Convicts are FW Central American Cichlids. Unfortunatly they are fairly aggressive and a 55G tank doesnt offer a ton of space for aggression. Personally I would do one convict cichlid(preferably female) and one Severum in your 55G tank. With that said a shoal of 6 Rosy barbs would be a good addition to the tank as well.

Nope, its really no different than FW. You will probably have to start out a dragon goby from your LFS in FW as its rare to see them kept in brackish. Slowly increase your SG by .002 every other week. Only difference is youll need some marine salt and a hydrometer. Dragon gobies do well in the 1.008-1.010 range.

Convicts are not brackish.

No they are strictly FW fish as rich stated. Some brackish fish are:

Spotted Puffers
Dragon Gobies
Knight Gobies
Bumble Bee Gobies
Scats
Monos
Archers
Orange Chromides

These fish all have different brackish tollerances, so do research for compatibilites as far as temperment ans salinity go.
