(coudnt find another place to put this, so I chose this section - hope its ok)
Ok heres the story: on Friday I phoned our local AquaH2O branch and I asked them about the price of their 50cm Platinum Combo set, got the price, and finished the call off with a "Great! I'll definately be through tomorrow to buy one!". I even managed to persuade my bf to get up early on the Sat and take the trip with me!! *excited* Saturday morning, I woke up early and left home to get to AquaH2O by 9am (had to go somewhere else at 10am). I get there, bf and I look around for a bit at all their (STUNNING!!!) planted tank displays and then when I noticed time was running out (*sigh*), I went to the desk to ask for my Platinum Combo 50cm and was told....um....no stock, very sorry...!!?? I almost throttled the lady who told me (granted, wasnt her fault as she wasnt the one I spoke to on the phone)!! I mean HELLO!!! I clearly SAID i was coming through tomorrow to buy!! Whether I was just bs'ing them (like im sure some ppl do) or not, she COULD have had the decency to tell me that they dont have any stock, JUST IN CASE I happened to be telling the truth about coming through (its a 20min drive for me, if not longer!!)!!!
*sigh* Anyway so I get home, go over to my parents and explain the situation. Dad suggests taking a drive down to Sams Aquarium (a 30-40min drive) cos he's wanting some Clown Loaches anywhoo. Ok, phone Sams, he's got my tank in stock (one last one) and he quotes a damn good price (ha! take that AquaH20!!)! Great!! :19: Day is looking up!!
We get there, we get the tank, get a heater, get a thermometre, choose some gravel (unfortunately they only had 3 of the 2kg's bags in black, so I got what I could), choose some plants....but(!!)...
...when I walked over to see the gravel, I look up, and there are 4 Siamese Fighters in a barracks, one STARING at me wagging his fins and looking adorable!! He's not the colour I wanted originally (he's blue&red, i wanted plain deep red) but he's staring at me - call me stupid or crazy, but I felt a connection with this guy, and decided red or not, he was coming home with me!! So I bought him!! Got to the counter, and ended up buying the most expensive food for him too hahahaha! But, on the plus side, I got decent prices on everything!!
Now, I know some...no, scratch that, most people would disagree with this, but I got home, set everything up (dad had declorinator already, which I used), let the tank run for a few hours, and plopped him in (after adjusting him to my tank water etc of course, i dont literally mean "plopped" haha)! He's looking SO happy in his gigantic 15 gallon tank hahahaha and the next morning he was still doing great!! Before I left that night, I gave him the teeniest amount of food (which I knew I probably shouldnt have *blush* but he might've been hungry!) and he gobbled it all up (I made sure none was left lying around on the floor)!
The next day I went and got my centerpiece and more black gravel, and touched up the tank which is looking stunning, if I do say so myself!! Haha!
His name, by the way, is Littlebettabutta
Pics (I have 2 thermometres, cos I thought mine was working so I borrowed my dad's for a bit):
