Hello again. I wanted to first of all thank everyone who posted in my ammonia spike issue thread. My tank is now fully cycled, and the fish are doing wonderfully. I had a bit of an algae bloom, I bought an algae scraper and two ottocinclus fish to keep that from getting out of control. I did another 50% water change today and the tank is solid! It's a wonderful feeling to have healthy fish swimming in healthy water. They are a joy to watch. I must admit, after doing about 3 tank cleanings last week, I'm getting very used to it and actually sort of enjoy it! Well, except for the time I wasn't monitoring the syphon hose close enough today and got about a half a gallon of water all over our kitchen floor (luckily not carpet, haha).
I do have another question though. In addition to the ottocinclus fishes, I also got a very cool Variatus fish. I noticed that they like small amounts of salinity in their water, but was wondering if that was completely necessary. The person at the petshop said it wasn't completely mandatory. I was worried about putting salt into the tank as I've heard that cory's can be kind of sensitive to it (I have 3). True? Recommendations?
Thanks again!
