DARNIT, i think i have to put down my clown knife. I go away for 4 stinkin days, and the severum goes on a RAMPAGE. usually, the knife is at the top of the tank, and when i cane home he was hiding. I looked, and He REALLY, and i mean really looks bad. Usually the severum only chases him a tiny bit, and its been that way forever, but i guess the severum went all out. The knifes silvery skin has flesh missing, and huge pink spots. Hes looking so bad i think its just a waste of my time to treat him. Hes curled up and only swims if i nudge him.
That severum is getting pretty bossy.

Thanks.
I dont know why the severum all the sudden turned on him. The knife is supposed to be the predator, and somehow the severum ended up being the killer

At least theres one bright side. I have 75$ to buy rocks/driftwood/plants for the peacock tank, and i should have the tank running tomorrow

Sorry you ended up with a bad severum. I don't know as a knife fish is one that is supposed to be with a severum. Hope he doesn't kill anything else.

Sorry to hear about your clown knife....even though serevums aren't considered aggressive fish, you obviously found one that hasn't read the book! You will have to be very careful what fish you place with him. Maybe try fish like barbs or something. I wouldn't try to place another cichlid or predatory fish in with him as he has probably claimed the whole tank as his territory.
I love clown knifefish. One of the fish I have always wanted to have but I never will as I simply have no room for a tank big enough to hold one of these guys!! Love the way they look and move.....

theres nothing more with the sevreum, just the knife was. Theres tons of rocks and crevices for the knife, yet he got picked on. Knifes are predatory, and severums are tropical semi-agressive so i dont know what happened
The cichlid was bored...the knife provided entertainment...that's my guess...
Sorry to hear about that, man. Not how you wanted to return home, I'm sure.

OOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG, HE SURVIVED MY EUTHUANASION ATTEMPT. I thought he was dead, and he still 5% moved. I had to put him in the freezer. I cant believe he survived it
I almost hate to ask how you tried to euthanize him that he survived? If I ever have to euthanize I put the fish in a large cup of aquarium water and put him in the freezer overnight. Done. Jesus, man, what did you do?

ive tried EVERY way known to man before, flicking, smashing, clove oil+vodka, naturally puting the fish on dry land, head chopping, freezing, you name it.
Ive found that freezing and the oil+vodka way work best. I tried the vodka+oil way, and he freakin survives 13 hours. I then just gave up and used the freezer, and that finally worked.
My gardens like a burial now. I dont use it anymore, so i bury my favorite fish. Theres a few bettas, the aulonocara, and now the knife.
At least the lfs had a sale today, i got a heater cheap, driftwood, rocks, conditioner, crickets. Now, i can get the 29g cycling
What's the vodka/oil way?

The oil puts it literally to sleep, then the vodka painlessly destroys its circulatory system. I have 0 idea how he survived
