Is it possibe to have too much water in the garden?

I am consider building one of these tables out of hardwood but I am wondering if one can get too much water or if it is just nicely themed.

If the wood is properly treated every year or two a set up like that could last for years. You also get no freezing or frost so ice will never be a prob.
I get ice build up in between the boards and nothing I do can fight that off.
A good vinyl cover would also help a lot.

So uhhh....whens the BBQ?

no such thing as too much water:hmm3grin2orange:
You need to consider mosquitoes, frogs, etc.
Blooming lilies will look nice

I love frogs, livebearers handle the mosquitos + it is next to a mangrove swamp so it won´t really make a difference.

Teak and a few other woods would last 10 years + here even untreated,

Very neat.

My first thought was being able to treat the wood adequately as well, but if you have wood that will last down there I say more power to ya!thumbs2: Heck of a conversation piece

I gotta agree with you, food on the table and the little pond in the table, would attract too many insects. It's got a great look visually to it though, not sure of how practical.

Make sure the fountain is small, otherwise you will be getting spray all over your food. Also hope you filter it better than they did in the stock photos.

I might skip to fountain all together. Would be nice to do a setup like that with rays in it. The footprint would be 7x4 ft if I decide to build one.

Looks good. What about a plexiglass cover to keep the bugs away and then you can take it off when you use it. Don't know how well that would look with the flowers; if it would even work. But the plexiglass cover would be good to also keep stuff from falling in.

Rays outdoors? not sure what kind of predators you have there, but boy would I be pissed if a racoon or a heron made a snack out of a $200-$5000 fish....

I really don´t see bugs being a big problem. I have a lot of water standing and the only bug that gets to it is mosquitos and they will make good food for fish.

Teak is awesome and lasts forever. But very expensive. There are some very good sealers out there now for decks that contains a water repellent and a couple coats should do ya for awhile.

I can just keep a net over the holes when I donīt use the table. I do have racoons here. In fact I got two baby racoons.

But why would I pay $200-$5000 fish for a ray. Buy directly from exporters in peru and you'll pay 10$ for a 200$ ray.
