I have had some confusion over time. Can I keep only male Cherry Barbs in a tank? Everyone says I need a male/fm ratio. I don't see why this has to happen. Can anyone clear this up? ThAnKS.

I see now why they need to be more girls than boys. Will they really fight and injure each other?

Read the profile. Is that what it says?

It says.
Keeping two males in the same aquarium is actually highly entertaining since the males will “dance” in front of each other rather than simply fight. During the dance, the males will encircle each other whole displaying erect fins. Males will also become more vividly coloured when kept together with other males.

AH! So that's why everyone says they are so fun to watch! I guess I will keep 5 males and see what happens!

It's also recommended to have some females because both genders will show better colors to try and impress each other. The males will show good color when kept in an all male tank as well.

Is a 10 gallon tank enough for only 6 male cherry barbs? I was thinking of getting some!

Two posts in an old thread 4 minutes apart? Maybe start your own thread and have a little patience.

Cherry barbs are easy. But if you want to see the brighter reds, get some females.:ssmile:
