i was hoping to start an aquarium in my personal room around 30 gal. my question that's so important is should i do that ? my room generates alot of heat more than the others i guess because i am a gamer and have a 40inch hdtv ps3 and surround sound basically a good amount of electronics for a single room . i don't leave my window open due to the fact that i don't have a screen and hate when moths and mesquestos enter. is this a no go or are there solutions ? thanks ..

What is the temp of the room?
You could run a chiller to keep it down.

High 60's F year round, or just in the winter time? I'd say you're safe from temperature swings...just be sure to buy or invest in a quality heater.

I've never had too much of a problem with my tank in my room, its right next to my Xbox and underneath my TV, along with my computer generating heat my room gets to about 28-29c (over 80f) in the summer and it has never affected the tank at all, you might want to run a fan in the room to keep it circulated and abit cooler but other than that I've done nothing.
The larger the volume of water the hotter the air has to be to heat it. Mine is only 10 gal more and it has never concerned me too much.

It would really only be a worry if the temperature gets over 90 for long periods without A/C.

Forget about the arowana--it will be a disaster as it's simply way too large a fish for a tank that size. Think of smaller fish, like blue rams, or other dwarf cichlids. Research how large a fish when it's an adult.

No dwarf varieties of arowanas, or everyone in here would have three of them lol. for a thirty gallon, dwarf cichlids would work out pretty nicely, they are very personable. Dwarf puffers are also nice.
