Hi, does a Betta need an air stone? I've got a 5g tank with a heater and I have a small air pump I could use in it. The air moves the water quite abit. Not sure if the Betta perfers peaceful waters.

A filter would be better if you don't have one already. In my 10 gallon divided betta tank I have 4 sections and one has the filter and the other 3 have air stones in them to keep the water moving and it doesn't seem to bother the bettas.

Bettas are labyrinthine fish and are therefore suitable for low oxygen content waters. They do prefer low flow tanks in my experience. Place a small filter and nix the air pump, should be just fine.
