He is getting old and he is starting to lose his sight. I feed him, and he can't find the food most of the time. I have to push it in front of his nose so he can smell it. Poor guy. He has white spots on his pupils. Pretty sad. :scry:

Aww! Sad to hear about him!

They make these 'feeding rings'. Maybe that would help him, because it keeps the food all in one spot?

Thanks everyone. I have had him for a little over four years. I've grown pretty attached to him. :scry:

try soaking the pellets before hand, and place them right infront of him.
Like Heather said, food rings would be good
A little bit drastic, but you could move him to a small container (like a pet store cup) for feeding time

I would just put the food in front of him. I wouldn't try to move him to a cup(or any other container) for feeding because that can stress him out. He already knows where everything is in his current tank so you would want to keep it all the same for him.

Hmm I wonder if soaking the pellets in garlic juice would help, my reasoning if the food has a stronger smell to it, may be easier for him to find?

Is four years considered old for a Beta? Are you sure its not just "cloud eye" (which is curable)?

Either way, sorry to hear he's not feeling well. I suppose if he's still eating he'll still have some time left with him!
