Can I Put Battle Cat in my Aquarium?

Hi! I have a figurine of Battle Cat (He-Man) from my childhood on my bookshelf.

Is it safe to put him in my freshwater aquarium? My boyfriend thinks it's a bad idea as he thinks the paint and/or plastic could poison the fish.

I think he'd be fine.

Thoughts?

considering that "Battle Cat" was probably produced and painted in China with lead based paints I'd have to vote no

He might be safe, but on the other hand he might not be. The question is if you want to take the risk.

Is it worth it? That option is up to you. It may not be safe due to lead. I'm going to lean on no on this one. :22:

As others have already pointed out, I wouldn't trust the paint so no.

It may work if you could put a non toxic clear finish on it over top of the paint.
I don't know if Krylon Fusion has a clear coat but that paint is aquarium safe.

I would coat it first with something. Also, I had one when I was a kid, I imagine him and panthor would both float, as they are hollow, so you wanna fill em somehow, but then you have the entire inside to worry about leaching.

With a thick clearcoat and siliconed to a rock it should work, but best bet is to put it on your shelf or ebay.

And no, the saddle would not be safe :P

Cear coat everything. You can stop it from floating by filling it with sand.Just silicone the hole to keep the sand in.

I have to agree with the boyfriend, battlecats are pretty old (right?) and pretty much any paint is toxic except for a select few we use in the hobby. I personally wouldnt risk it

Coating it in sealant is less risky but it needs to be perfect, I think its better off on the shelf collecting value but thats just my opinion.

I am with Wild Turkey, leave it out of the tank, there are lots of aquarium safe doodads you can put in your tank.

My opinion is no as he is old and the paint could be toxic... You could however get creative and cast/mold him in an aquarium safe product (don't know what) and basically carbon copy him into an aquarium ornament.
