Browsing through craigslist and saw an ad for an 8" oscar in a 10 gallon tank. I want to save it so bad, but I'm not set up for one.

The only "mean" thing would be to save him and put him in a situation that is not any better.

If you're not prepared for a fish that big, just hope someone calls and buys it soon to get him out of that situation.

Oh no, I'm not going to get him. I'm just hoping someone who knows how to take care of him will. Just kinda venting I guess.

Too many people don't know what they're doing...and then they bail...it is sad...

Oh, good. That's alot of fish.... It's tragic that it's in a tank that small.

Someone else will buy it that has the tank size for it. If you attempt to "rescue" it and also don't have the tank size needed, it will just be going from a bad situation to another bad situation.

Pretty mean!

Some people just dont read, or care to read. Poor fish... Makes you wish you had a 10,000g dug out in the back yard and perfect temps all year round for fishies.

Yeah, you'd be surpised how some non-hobbyists care for their fish (if care is even the word). Under-sized tanks, no water changes, incompatible tank mates, and even complete neglect.

I heard a couple of first and second hand fish related stories at work this week that made me cringe, mostly involving pleco's.

When people buy a puppy they don't think it will stay that size but for some reason people think a 2" fish at the store will never get much bigger!WTF!

"Fish only have a 3 second memory,,,, and they only grow to the size of the tank!!" Dunno why but alot of people starting out or goldfish bowl people or general population think this is the case,,, Tis the main reason for this carry on,!! :scry: ! Sure Oscars remind me of little puppies!!

Heck, I only have a 3 second memory sometimes - just ask my wife...

Actually my issue is more of a listening disorder.

I'm not surprised by that in the slightest. I work at a chain pet store, and there are people who want to put our 2 inch oscars in a fish bowl (personally I think bowls shouldn't even be sold, hell, tanks smaller than 5 gallons shouldn't even be sold). As a hobbyist, it's really hard to see people buying fish and not listening to advice from others. I just come home and tell my fish they are lucky to have me :)
