Okay I know multi fry isn't the most rare or exciting thing in the world but... it is my first cichlid fry and it really made my day! :hmm3grin2orange: It looks like there is only one (it is pretty active, hunting and foraging for food), but who knows, there may be more hiding somewhere else. Mom is being quite diligent with the guarding of the area, it is very cute to watch!

I tried taking pics but had trouble with a white speck against white sand. Will keep trying and will update with a pic when I get one... (blush)

Just had to share, thanks for reading!

Well this is the closest I could come to a pic showing the new fry. The depth of field on my macro lens was sort of ridiculous to try to catch the little guy in focus, so I gave up on that idea. Anyway, here's the closest I came to getting him in focus, and mom just happened to be in the background. He's got her eyes! :-)

Oh yeah, and talk about a diatom population explosion, huh...

Even me...I have no desire to have babies...but yesterday I saw a baby swordtail...and I'm rooting for him!

Congrats! As for there only being one fry, don't count on it. When I fisrt spotted fry in my 20g, there looked to be about 3 or 4. At last count, I've seen at least 19, if not more!:ssuprised:
