Hey everyone! Been on this forum for a while and found a whole bunch of useful info so far. Here's my question...
I just picked up a 55 gallon off craigslist and it came with 2 fluval 2 plus filters. Is this enough filteration? If so where would be the best places to mount them? I have an aquaclear 300 on my 29 gallon. Would it be better to move that to my 55 and put one of the fluvals in the 29? Thanks.

Welcome to the Fabulous AC!
I think the transferring some of the media to one of the fluval and running both on the 55 is great way to speed up the cycle and will give it awesome filtration.Once both filters are well cycled you could remove used media again and start up the 29 with the other fluval.
You really should have a larger canister though. Those are only rated for very small tanks.
I would run an AC 110 on the 55 with a larger fluval.
I prefer rena filters.The xp3 rocks.

Thanks for the welcomes and advice. I will do just that to cycle this thing faster. Going to head to my lfs tonight and pick up some supplies.

Sounds great!
Do you have a liquid test kit for the water?
An API master test kit is a great way to go.Avoid the test strips.
They never tell the truth!lol They do turn nice colors though!:hmm3grin2orange:

Haha yeah, I heard they're not very accurate. (of course I heard after I bought them.:hmm3grin2orange: ) I do have a bunch of liquid test kits that I use too. When these run out, I'm going to invest in a good master kit. Now I just gotta figure out what I'm going to stock it with after it cycles...:fish:
