Either Sid is a psycho spakling gourami ... or he has an addiction for snails.
Not sure which. Maybe both.
He's around an inch long and about a 1/4 inch in depth. Small fish. At first I thought he was a really shy eater. Then I discovered that he just doesn't relish the flakes. Or pellets. Or worms. Or daphnia. Or brine shrimp.
Certainly, when he is hungry, he'll partake. Nothing like his cousin, Gus (dg), who would eat until he burst.
Then I put snails in the tank.
The MTS I got had no chance to burrow. They were flipped and stripped. One nerite is MIA.
I watched him. He strafes and circles the snail. His body wiggles when he hovers in place like a cat or snake. He darts in sideways like a shark. None of the fish could care less about any shrimp I have ever introduced. But the snails? Sid beads in on them. Crazy psycho fish.
I swear, if anyone ever had a snail problem, I should lend out Sid.
